The severity of signs and symptoms of muscle fibrosis varies in different groups in different individuals, but generally includes the following.
- The basic symptom of fibromyalgia is extensive muscle and bone pain, which lasts for months and often affects the joints, neck and back. The pain is often accompanied by sclerosis, which is abnormally worse in the morning and can last all day. Patients often wake up and feel they have "hit the bus"
- Pain usually involves multiple "sensitive points". These are sensitive local areas that are very painful when moderate pressure is applied (eg, pressing with the thumb to the nail polish). Sensitive spots can be found on the back of the head, neck, back, upper part, lower part, shoulders, upper chest, elbows, hips and knees.
- Fatigue and sleep disorders. Fatigue occurs in 90% of people with fibromyalgia, and may be associated with altered sleep patterns that usually occur with the condition. Usually, this is a waking experience in the morning that feels tired and does not recover, sometimes with muscle aches.
Some people with fibromyalgia have trouble sleeping or may wake up frequently during the night. Studies suggest that this may be the result of a sleep disorder called intermittent sleep pattern in the alpha wave, where deep sleep is interrupted by bursts of brain activity "wake up." People with fibromyalgia often lack the deep sleep phase, which is called "rapid eye movement" (sleep other than a quick eye movement).
Other sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, nocturnal cirrhosis, and restlessness in the legs, may also be associated with fibromyalgia.
About 40% to 70% of people with fibromyalgia suffer from constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain and abdominal distension, symptoms associated with IBS.
- Chronic headache and facial pain. Half of people with fibromyalgia suffer from recurrent migraines or tension headaches, which may be associated with neck and shoulder tenderness. Up to 90% experience in the jaw and facial pain.
- Increased sensitivity. About 50% of patients with fibromyalgia increase sensitivity to various sensory stimuli (eg, smells, noises, bright lights, certain foods and changes in climate) and low pain thresholds.
- Numbness, tingling or feeling of swelling in the hands and feet.
- Pain in the chest or pelvic pain in the immune system, which leads to frequent and painful urination
Dry eyes and mouth.
- Roundabout
- Mental and / or emotional disorders occur in more than half of people with fibromyalgia. Symptoms include lack of concentration, lack of memory, mood swings, irritability, depression and anxiety.
